At therapeutic concentrations, stiripentol significantly inhibits several CYP450 isoenzymes: for example, CYP2C19, CYP2D6 and CYP3A4.
- Carbamazepine, phenobarbital might have to be reduced by 50%
- Phenytoin might have to be reduced by 75%
- Intravenous anaesthetics might have to be reduced by 50%, knowing that the products’ half-life is increased
- Theophylline, anticoagulant are contraindicated
- No interaction with antibiotics (except potentially with macrolides)
